Huntsville, AL- Invariant Corporation proudly announces its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter century of delivering advanced engineering solutions, mission-ready products, and expert support for the modern warfighter. Founded on May 6, 2001, by three engineers, David Anderson, Brent Spears, and Brett Gossage, the company was built on a vision of agility, technical excellence, and an employee-first culture.
More than two decades ago, the founders saw an opportunity to create a company that could move faster, operate with fewer administrative constraints, and provide exceptional engineering support without unnecessary bureaucracy.
“Our focus was to deliver faster, more accurate, and more responsive engineering support to our customers,” said Brent Spears, co-founder and Executive Vice President.
From the beginning, Invariant prioritized creating a workplace where employees felt valued and supported. Today, the company is known for its family-oriented culture, offering competitive benefits, paid time off, and parental leave. Invariant has been recognized as a “Best Place for Working Parents” and a “Best Place to Work” by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber.
In 2024, Invariant achieved another milestone by becoming a 100% employee-owned company through an ESOP structure — a long-held dream of its founders. Employee ownership ensures that every team member has a direct stake in the company’s continued success.
Over the last several years, the company has experienced remarkable growth, tripling its workforce and expanding into a 65,000-square-foot facility while seeing significant contract awards and increasing production demand.
As the defense industry evolves, Invariant remains committed to its mission: To provide Expert Support for the Modern Warfighter.
One of the company’s most notable achievements has been its leadership in low-cost counter-UAS technologies. Invariant has developed innovative systems that help neutralize drone threats, protecting warfighters and saving lives. The company continues to expand its capabilities in autonomy, sensor development, AI-enabled target detection, tracking, and identification, as well as launch electronics and training devices.
Danny Levis, President of Invariant, emphasized the company’s focus on the future. “As Invariant grows from an engineering services and prototyping company into full-rate production for multiple products, we remain committed to delivering cost-effective solutions that meet the needs of our customers and the mission.”
Reflecting on the company’s next chapter, David Anderson, CEO and co-founder, expressed confidence in the leadership team and workforce. “The leadership we have in place, along with our current workforce, will take the vision we’ve built and make it their own. That’s what an ESOP brings,” Anderson said.
Spears added, “Our next-generation leadership is fully capable of carrying forward the culture we’ve built, continuing to deliver exceptional solutions for the warfighter and advancing the original vision we established over two decades ago.”
As Invariant celebrates 25 years in Rocket City, the company’s story remains one of its people. Employee-owners dedicated to innovation, excellence, and mission success. Looking ahead, Invariant is not only honoring its history but building on it to support the warfighter for decades to come.
