Crime Gun Intelligence Technologies (CGIT), LLC is a collaborative effort between Invariant Corporation, , and former ATF agent Tim Kelly, created to adapt and commercialize the battle-tested FireFLY system for commercial law enforcement use. Established in 2019, CGIT provides next-generation, transportable gunshot detection capabilities to agencies across the country in support of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) initiative.
Rooted in defense-grade innovation, CGIT equips public safety professionals with precise, real-time data to support smarter, faster, and more accountable responses to gun violence.
Originally developed under the Department of Defense’s Project FireFLY program to detect and geolocate hostile fire in combat zones, FireFLY was deployed in Afghanistan to help protect U.S. forces by accurately identifying small arms threats in harsh environments. Today, that same trusted technology supports law enforcement through a modular, rapidly deployable acoustic detection system that delivers precise geolocation and real-time situational awareness without relying on third-party data.
CGIT delivers a flexible, secure, and agency-owned platform that strengthens gun crime investigations and supports data-driven policing. Whether used for short-term deployments at high-risk events or as part of a long-term crime reduction strategy, CGIT enables agencies to:
With CGIT, law enforcement agencies gain access to a field-proven solution built on a decade of acoustic detection expertise.
